The SNES version featured sprite-based graphics like the original The Lost Vikings, but Beam Software created 32-bit enhanced graphics and added voice to the PC, Saturn, and PlayStation ports in 1997, when the game was renamed. Only three playable characters appear in each level and, as before, the goal is to get all three of them to the exit. The Vikings are eventually joined by two new allies: a werewolf named Fang, and a dragon named Scorch. After defeating a robot guard during a power outage, the Vikings outfit themselves with robot parts to gain new abilities: Erik the Swift has turbo boots that allow him to jump higher, Baleog the Fierce trades his bow and arrow for a bionic arm that can extend to attack from a distance, and Olaf the Stout can shrink to get through small gaps. Once again, the Vikings have been abducted by aliens. Known as Lost Vikings 2: Norse by Norsewest outside of the United States, Norse by Norse West is a graphically upgraded version of The Lost Vikings 2 for the SNES from 1994.
