Free Online Converting Tool This is a FREE tool to convert CSV files from Paypal, eBay or any Bank Institution into QIF files to import into MS Money, Quicken, Sage, GNUCash or any Accounting Program.
I have used Money since the mid 1990s and had it running successfully on an XP desktop until 3 years ago. At that time, I bought a laptop running Windows 8.1 and downloaded Money Plus from Microsoft and again had it running successfully, even after updatingto Windows 10.Each month when I pay my Chase credit card bill, I download the activity and import it into Money.
This has been working fine until this month. Now, when I download the file (in QIF format) and attempt to import it into Money, I get an error message tellingme that the file is either invalid or corrupt and to contact my financial institution. Thinking that it was just a glitch, I tried it several times over the course of a week, but I still get the error message. I called Chase and they tell me that everythingis fine on their end and that I should contact Microsoft. But since this is no longer supported, I'm stuck.Any ideas on what I need to do?
They also support the OFX format or CSV and Excel. If there's a way to import those formats, I'll give it a try if I have instructions.Thanks!Marie. Don't use the QIF file. Instead download the QFX file to your desktop.
Change the extension from qfx to ofx. Then double click on the ofx file. It will import correctly into Money.Thank you!
That is so much better. A few months back when they changed their website, I started getting all sorts of strange things, like the NUM field in Money had N/A in it, and if I asked for just the last statement, I'd be missing some of the transactions. In the past, I just always asked for all transactions and didn't have to worry about duplicates. I also had to tell Money every single time which account to import to.With the ofx file, it automatically imported to the correct account with no problems.I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't consider switching to something that's still being supported. I've been using Money for so long that I dread the thought of learning something new, but since I rely on it for tracking our finances, especially at taxtime, I'll truly up the creek if things stop working - like reports, etc. You could try calling Chase customer service and asking them to restore their old website for you. They still have it available on their server. They did it for me a few months ago, so I have the old format and continue to import thedata as always.
However, I heard they have refused to do it for others more recently, but you should still try. Also, as far as I know almost all the other banks except Chase, will still create OFX files for download, so you could just aseasily change banks as change financial programs to get what you want. Thanks for this input!!!I've been working with Chase IT Technical Support about fixing the QIF issue, starting in mid-March. When I called last month, the IT Supervisor said she saw multiple instances of the issue coming in and thought a QIF fix would be available withina few days and suggested re-trying it then. When I tried my next DL using QIF today (4/7), I got the same INOP issue with the same error msg. So called Chase back and they are 'chasing' it down as I enter this.In the mean time, my own search brought me here, thanks to you guys.
Yes, the QFX DL, renamed to OFX works great! Thank you!!!!When Chase calls me back with what they find, I will suggest they can help their customers by offering a MS Money OFX format selection once again. They can easily create it using the QFX format, changing only the file extension to OFX aspart of the download function. Creating a QFX file but calling it OFX is all we need at this point. This would be the proper solution, valuable to us as customers of Chase and VERY low cost to them. Win/Win.What the future brings is anyone's guess, but I'm hanging with MS Money, the best of the personal accounting tools. Works great in Win10, too. Thanks again for your efforts!
If you want to associate the.qfx extension to OFX files so thatMoney can import it directly, you can create a.reg file namedqfx2ofx.reg. Then web access to.qfx files would work the same asfor.ofx files. That.reg file would contain the 15 lines that arebetween the two demarcation lines:begin qfx2ofx.regREGEDIT4HKEYCLASSESROOT.qfx'Content Type'='text/qfx'@='ofx.Document'HKEYCLASSESROOT.qfxofx.DocumentHKEYCLASSESROOT.qfxofx.DocumentShellNewHKEYCLASSESROOTMIMEDatabaseContent Typeapplication/x-qfx'Extension'='.qfx'HKEYCLASSESROOTMIMEDatabaseContent Typetext/qfx'Extension'='.qfx'end qfx2ofx.regJust run that file after you create it. So thereafter, if you usethe web etc to bring in a.qfx file, it is treated as if it werenamed.ofx. The Money install associated.ofx with itself. If you are also using Quicken, this would probably not be a goodthing to do.
I have used 'Microsoft Money 2005' and there is no simpler and better program than Money. Several years ago i heard Microsoft offers free upgrade to 'Microsoft Money Deluxe' (which i use now). I can't find to Deluxe downloadlink, but Microsoft now offers you to download 'Money Plus Sunset Deluxe'. It said 'is designed to be a replacement for expired versions of Money Plus Essentials, Money Plus Deluxe, and Money Plus Premium versions. Note: The Money Plus Sunsetversions come with online self-help only.'
Could give your program an update (please have a backup of your your Money program and a backup of your data file before doing any update). My solution and just noticed others have already solved, is choose to download your transaction in Quicken file in.qfx format rename to.ofx and the data are imported just like before. My bank stopped supporting Money last week, I complaint and hope they restore Money support. Money is so easy, flexible to use and free - no need to buy other complicate and expensive 'new' accounting software. Thank you Bobjbkin! This solution took a lot less time then my dead ended discussions with Chase's customer service representatives. When I called them about problems downloading files into MS Money, they said they only assist with Quicken software.I said that the download options on the website indicate it provides OFX files, those used by MS Money. They said sorry we can only help you with Quicken.I have had this credit card since 1985 and am a devoted user of MS Money since 2000.I would give up this cc way before giving up MS Money. But now I do not have to!Thanks again! Thank you so very much bobjbkln!! Like Marie I have used Money for years and it totally suits me.
I spent hours trying to get my April Chase bill entered into Money. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program, tried it on my other computers, and downloadedit many many times to no avail. Then I tried Chase tech help which was no help at all.

I set up an Excel spreadsheet which did not do what Money could do. All in all I spent hours trying to do what I took for granted before. I had decided to stop using myChase card since I could still use Money with Capital One and Target. But something made me search again today and I found your solution which works PERFECTLY!! I have no idea why Chase couldn't tell me that! Thank you so much for sharing this solution!!! Yes, not clear what is happening.
It sounds like you are on the statements page and Chase is offering to download a pdf of your statement. But if you are on a transactions page, selecting QFX from a dropdown of file types and selecting QFX, shoulddownload a QFX file. As noted above, if you succeed in downloading the QFX file, changing the file to OFX will allow Money to import it.BTW, quite a few credit card (AMEX and Discover are two) no longer offer an OFX download from their web sites but they still offer QFX.Bill Becker. I've tried this as well as doing it manually (Control Panel Default programs Associate a file type or protocol with a program.qfx Microsoft Money Import Handler) in both cases the downloaded QFX file does not automatically load intomoney as the OFX file from Chase did.
Nor does double clicking on the file enter it into Money. What does work however is right clicking on the downloaded file and selectingOpen With and then choosing Microsoft Money Import Handler. That's a bit easier than changing the filename, but it's not at all like it used to work with the OFX file from Chase.
I have the same experience with both my Windows 10 and Windows 7 machines. I tried the registry changes that Cal Learner detailed above, but that did not work. In addition, I am unable to associate the qfx file type with mnyimprt.exe usingthe Control Panel on Windows 10. I get the message that I can't associate that file type with that program. It would be nice to be able to right-click and import, but so far I've had to change the file name.Any thoughts on how to set up this association?Bill Becker.

I ran QFX2OFX.REG and then downloaded a QFX file from my bank. It went into Money just fine.QFX2OFX.REG is 345 bytes. Should I put that file in a place you can download it from, or is yours the same?
